Overall Purpose of Job

• To design, develop and test hardware for new product developments with a focus on networking and control products.
• To enhance and develop procedures for hardware control and release
• To support Regulatory Testing such as EMC and Safety

Specific Accountabilities

• Responsible for contributing to the overall architectural design of new products
• Responsible for the specification of hardware components
• Responsible for the schematic capture using Cadence, Mentor or Zuken tools and for overseeing PCB layout.
• Responsible for Design Verification Testing to ensure correctness of design
• Accountable for the delivery of high quality work to an agreed timescale

Education/Qualifications

• Honours degree in either electronics or a closely related subject

Skills/Experience

Essential

• Two years professional experience developing electronic hardware
• Knowledge and experience of microprocessors designs
• Knowledge and experience of power supply designs
• Knowledge and experience of design for EMC compliance
• Knowledge and experience of design for manufacturing and test

Desirable

• Specialist knowledge of PowerPC or ARM microprocessors
• Knowledge and experience of FPGA design
• Detailed knowledge of PCB Layout
• General knowledge/experience of networking industry standard silicon devices.

Compensation

• Salary between £25k – £40k per annum depending upon skills and experience
